Unveiling the Enchantment: A Saturday at India Bazaar
Last Saturday, I found myself with a few free hours after their weekend hike was unexpectedly canceled. This serendipitous turn of events led them to the ‘India Bazaar’ event, hosted by a recently joined group. The event stood in stark contrast to the boisterous celebrations of the season, sparking a sense of curiosity and wonder about what ‘India Bazaar’ had in store.
Determined to uncover the secrets of this unfamiliar gathering, our protagonist embarked on a journey to Camden Town, a place they had never explored before. Little did I know that this day would be filled with surprises, enchantment, and heartwarming encounters. Handicrafts and henna adorned the space, transforming it into a scene reminiscent of James Joyce’s ‘Araby market,’ brimming with entrepreneurial warmth and zeal. The dedicated vendors patiently fielded inquiries about their business products and services, their passion shining through.

Having initially anticipated some casual, amateur dancing, I was taken aback by the caliber of the dance performances. The dancers moved with the skill, dedication, and versatility of accomplished professionals. The costumes, formations, fluidity, and expressiveness of Aparajita and her team left an indelible mark, with the green and blue costumes perfectly complementing their interlocking steps. It was evident that the participants had invested considerable effort and sincerity into their performances, resulting in flawless displays.

I have never known or met Poonam Joshi. I have never even interacted with her. Well, I’m only a few days old in the group, hence understandable. I went up to her: ‘hey, I joined recently and attending this event ..’ Before I could finish my sentence, she hugged me. There, there, I was wanting to hug her for organizing such fabulous event and she large-heartedly surpassed me. That to me is the pinnacle of humility. That to me is a rarity exuding affectionate vibes. That to me is the perfect host!
I am sure she didn’t make anyone feel uncared in the gathering. She was hosting, supervising, entertaining, overseeing and whatnot, and despite such hectic feet, she ensured to instill that community cherish in everyone.

The day’s highlight was the instant connection formed with Bhakti Bhise, a fellow attendee. Our bond was cemented within seconds, as we shared a lighthearted moment despite being underdressed for the occasion.
Thank you — the organizers, volunteers, performers and others. It was a memorable Saturday!
And it deserved a loud acknowledgement from one of the silent observers of the event. Thank you.
India Bazaar offered a delightful array of experiences. From the warm welcome by a smiley-eyed host to captivating displays of Indian culture through handicrafts and henna, the event brimmed with entrepreneurial warmth. Dance performances, reminiscent of accomplished professionals, enthralled the audience. Organizer Poonam Joshi’s heartfelt hospitality shone, creating connections and cherished memories.
