My faith gave wings to my Dreams

Life was a roller coaster ride until I held my faith strong and trusted my own self. As a young girl, cameras, production and media always fascinated me. I always wanted to be a producer at a TV channel, however due to religious intolerance, I couldn’t do much in my own homeland. I was pushed back for wearing Hijab and trying to make a space for myself in a male dominating space. That’s when I decided for myself and after completion of my MS in Media Science and Communication in Pakistan I came to the UK.

Islam is a peaceful religion but extremists portray it wrong. I loved my religion and my faith became my strength. I gathered my strength and followed my dreams to work behind the cameras. A profession which was predominantly for males. They appreciate a female in front of the camera but not behind the camera, even in an Islamic country.

I had little experience in documentary making and studio photography in Pakistan. So my husband encouraged me to start my own business. He is an artist and was more interested in photography. My prayers and strong belief in my faith paved way and We together started our own business 2 years ago. But there was a global challenge waiting for all of us. Covid 19 turned up and restrictions turned everything upside down. We were already struggling hard and had invested all what we had in buying the kit for our business but had no choice then to be more patient. Meanwhile we continued to sharpen our skills and tools.

Alhamdulilah after 2 years as things started to get better, we are growing again. My 3 years old son is also a blessing who is extremely patient and understands our work engagements. We, a family of 3 work together, support each other and really enjoy our small business.

Recently I have done a photoshoot for Celestia Magazine and we were overjoyed to avail this opportunity and highly appreciate the amount of support and recognition we have attained during the promotions. Very privileged to be part of a campaign which was supported by women and for women entrepreneurs like myself. You can see our work on CELESTIA MAGAZINE.
