Just Walk – A Collaborative Mission to Raise Funds

“Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.
Lion’s Club International is one of the biggest charities of the world who have helped 495 Million People Worldwide Last Year through 1.4 Million Service activities. ‘Just walk’ is a project and way to bring people together for a common cause and help them to raise funds for a charity of their choice.
Raising funds through Charity walk serve multiple purposes on organisation level and personal level and is one of the best options of fundraising for the social causes.
Just Walk Event is one of its kind of platform which was launched with a mission to raise funds in collaboration with Lions Clubs alike and helping smaller charities to raise funds through this platform. This allows walkers to choose their purpose of walk and help their desired charity without any hassle of hosting and managing the walk.

On 31st of July, first Just Walk Event was organised by Lions Club of London Central Host at the Alexandra Gardens, Windsor. The event was planned and executed under the supervision of IPP Ashok Bhardwaj.
Several clubs in our district were invited to join in and raise funds for their respective charities. We were glad to see how families of walkers supported them and came along to cheer them up.

147 walkers took part including members from Lions Clubs of Enfield, St Johns Wood, Stanmore, Uxbridge and several other charities sponsored by corporate entities.
The event was attended by several Past District Governors who braved themselves to walk The Long Walk in Windsor Park. Walkers were served with healthy snacks, fruits and water.
First aid facility was available on the site.

A post walk yoga session was organised and yoga expert Raj from Sukhuman Yoga helped walkers to relax and revive through Yin Yoga techniques.

“ Just Walk gave us a fantastic platform to raise funds for our club and chosen charities. We have ourselves a challenge to raise £5,000 and are chasing our clients, our families, colleagues and contacts to get us to that target“
– Aman Singh – Lions Club of St Johns Wood”
“ Knowing your experience of organising outdoor events – we had 17 walkers and you did not disappoint us – excellent river walk followed by brilliant hospitality. We are looking forward to the next year.
– Afzal Rai of Lions Club of Enfield”
The above feedback has encouraged the organisers to continue with this event for the benefit of all clubs and charities.
The next year’s Just Walk will be held on 17th September at the same venue and it will be bigger and better.
Celestia Magazine was proud to be the media partners for ‘Just Walk’. Celestia Magazine believes in contributing to the society in every possible way. It was our privilege to be part of such worthy cause and looking forward to serve many more such opportunities in near future.
