“My Soho My Story”

Rachel D’Arcy, a Jazz Singer and Songwriter, recently shared the story behind her new song “My Soho”. Rachel revealed that Soho was the place where she first arrived in London. As she did not attend university, she came to London to pursue an acting course but eventually discovered her passion for music. The connections and friendships that she made in Soho played a significant role in shaping her as an artist and as a person. She was inspired to write about Soho because it is an incredibly inspiring and amazing place.

Rachel shares that she has played in many clubs such as Trisha’s, Jerry’s, and Ronnie Scott where she honed her craft and felt the pulsating energy of Soho’s nightlife. Inspired by the electric atmosphere of Soho, Rachel’s latest song, “My Soho,” pays homage to this iconic neighborhood.

She remembers hearing “Old Cape Cod” by Patti Page, which is about a town in America called Old Cape Cod. She thought it was really fun and decided to transform the lyrics to capture the essence of Soho, celebrating its unique charm and allure. From the bustling streets to the eclectic music scene, “My Soho” encapsulates the spirit of this dynamic locale.

Inspired, she started writing in her flatmate’s room and recorded a demo which she shared on Instagram. The song received a lot of love and it particularly got an overwhelming response from the Soho community, reaffirming the song’s resonance with locals and visitors alike.

Rachel is getting ready to release her new album “My Soho” and she hopes it will bring joy and nostalgia to listeners everywhere. Her music pays homage to the vibrant spirit of the Soho neighborhood, capturing its essence for generations to come.
