How to Identify Your Authentic Style Personality

You don’t have to be a Celebrity to employ the services of a Stylist, it can be a very savvy investment which will save you money in the long-term. By learning about your authentic Style Personality, what suits your body shape, and what colours work with your skin, eye and hair colour, you can avoid costly fashion mistakes. More often than not when following the latest trends, women end up making clothing decisions that don’t work for their body shape or Style Personality.

A Personal Stylist will work with you to understand your personality and how you like to express yourself through your clothes. This is really key before attempting to look into your wardrobe or taking you on a personal shop. It may not be something that you have considered before, but your unique set of characteristics influence the choices that you make.

There are 6 different Style Personalities, and you may find that you fall into more than one, depending on your mood and the occasion you are dressing for. This is definitely true when it comes to your workwear. I often find that clients I work with will dress in a more ‘classic’ or ‘chic’ style for work, but their true style personality is more ‘creative’ or ‘romantic’. Working in male dominated environments often holds women back in being true to their style personality. I help clients to understand how they can be authentic to themselves, whilst respecting dress codes.

You can find some brief descriptions of the 6 different style personalities below:

This woman likes to dress with an edge and has a quirky sense of style. She likes to push the boundaries in what she wears and will mix and match different prints and trends within an outfit. Alexa Chung is a good example of a Creative Celebrity Style. This person would enjoy shopping at & Other Stories.

Like to make a statement when they walk into the room, they are eclectic in their wardrobe choices and like a statement print, bold colours and accessories. They are happy to experiment with the latest trends. Lady Gaga is a good example of a Dramatic Celebrity Style. This person would enjoy shopping at Urban Outfitters.

The Romantic enjoys clothes, they like pretty, feminine details such as lace, embroidery and ruffles. They will put a lot of effort into their appearance and enjoy dressing up. Florence Welch is a good example of a Romantic Celebrity Style. This person would enjoy shopping at Anthropologie.

Classic Style Personality enjoys being neat and tidy and doesn’t like to buy into the latest trends. They like their wardrobe to be functional and timeless in style. This person would enjoy shopping at Arket, Cos and Reiss. Kate Middleton is a good example of this Style Personality.

This person has a casual sense of style and likes their clothes to be comfortable and breathable. They like their style to be a good balance of relaxed and minimalistic, with low maintenance and natural fabrics. They would enjoy shopping at The White Company, Olive Clothing and Madewell. A Celebrity who encapsulates this style is Jennifer Anniston.

The Chic woman is very ‘put together’ and always looks immaculate. She enjoys a simple yet elegant style of clothing, tending to invest in her wardrobe rather than buying into all of the current fast fashion pieces. Her favourite shop on the High Street would be Whistles. Audrey Hepburn is the epitome of Chic.
