3 Easy ways to ensure your skin is radiant through Spring

Show off your glowing skin this spring with these 3 simple tips!

Spring is fast approaching and I cannot wait! I’m looking forward to seeing the daffodils and more gorgeous sunshine!

We’ve just come out of winter, a cold & drying season during which we’ve all been huddled close to our radiators and electric blankets! Now, we are heading to warmer temperatures, more fresh air, and outdoor activity. So it makes sense that our skin’s requirements change. 

Here are 3 easy ways to ensure your skin is radiant through Spring!

 Tip 1 – Exfoliate

We need to release that layer of winter skin. I do not mean harsh, aggressive scrubs! These products traumatize your skin and can cause severe irritation, sensitivity, acne, and pigmentation/discoloration. You just need a gentle cleanser with the right exfoliating ingredients that suit your skin. 

Why is exfoliation so important? Well, first of all, you need to unblock your pores to avoid breakouts. Secondly, the dead skin cells act as a barrier preventing your other skincare products from reaching your healthy skin. 

Tip 2 – Hydrate

How many times have you heard the importance of increasing your water consumption? Your skin is made up of 65% water and some of that used up in essential body processes and some is lost through sweat. So we need to replenish this water, otherwise, our skin can become dehydrated.

So what does dehydrated skin look like? Dull, dry, itchy and you can develop dark circles and more lines and wrinkles. I don’t think we need more of an incentive to ensure we hydrate our skin! 

 You can also increase your consumption of fruit and vegetables as they have a high content of water AND lots of nutrients that your skin will be grateful for! 

Tip 3 – Protect

By this, I mean protect your skin from the sun. Sunlight i.e. ultraviolet radiation is the prime cause of a lot of skin issues such a hyper-pigmentation, acne, ageing, and many more! Therefore by protecting our skin from the sun, we are actively preventing further damage to our skin. 

A few things to consider; make-up products contain up to SPF 15 however every person needs SPF 30-50 and yes, you apply it daily and multiple times through the day! Impractical, right? Let me tell you how I apply my sunscreen. 

I have a tinted, hydrating moisturiser with SPF 50 so I have a moisturiser, sunscreen, and foundation all in one step. For reapplications, I have an SPF 50 face mist that I spray every 2-3 hours. 

I would advise you to start by ‘Spring-cleaning’ your skincare drawer. Throw away any products that have expired or that you feel irritate your skin and clean your make-up applicators thoroughly.  

Skincare doesn’t have to be a chore. It can be practical self-care so that you can show the world your best face. 

Remember that you are a beautiful individual so please do not consider generic approaches to your skin and hair care. Bespoke and customized regimes are more likely to bring you the results you want.
